Soil Song – Local Farm Tour

September 16, 2022

Free

Following on from our conversation series Healthy Soils and Global Food Resilience, join us on a tour of two local properties that put explorations of healthy and resilient soils into practice.

These farm tours are designed to highlight the farmer’s passions, personality, place and production.

Alice and Caleb Wade – Wynyard

Alice and Caleb have recently purchased their property at Stennings Rd. River flat paddocks that had been largely cleared of vegetation for productive purposes. Alice and Caleb have re introduced native plantings to the river and have been searching for sustainable and profitable solutions that still allow them quality of life. This family embodies the social, economic, practical and environmental challenges and opportunities of production.

Michael McNamara – Calder

Michael is one of the North West’s most respected agricultural contractors, who has now returned to managing his beef herd. His unique perspective – built through working on most of the farms in the area – has allowed him to glean interesting connections between production and inputs. These learnings have led him down a path of chasing greater resilience in his soil. Michael is a generous character who has spent years honing his system to provide greater benefits and value in his production.  Come and see his mix of cutting-edge technology and thoughtful observation of the land.

This is a free event but registration is essential.
