Supper Series – Cradle Coast Olives & Guest Speaker Alana Mann

October 16 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

$65

We’re thrilled to announce the next chapter in our Watershed Supper Series in collaboration with Chef Isabel Sykes.

This season, join us at Watershed to celebrate local food and community. Our special event series showcases high-quality, nutritious, and sustainably sourced ingredients, while promoting conversations around community, building a culture of care, and celebrating local producers. Each event fosters strong connections through place-based sharing.

Chef Isabel Sykes, will be crafting a menu with produce from Kindred Organics & Cradle Coast Olives

‘Cradle Coast Olives is an olive grower and boutique processor of multi award – winning extra virgin olive oil, based at Abbotsham, on the North-West coast of Tasmania. Cradle Coast Olives was founded by Carol and Tony O’Neil, who planted the first olive trees on our 15-hectare property in 1996. After trialing many different varieties of olives, the olive grove has settled on five cultivars which have proved to be ideally suited to the cool climate of northern Tasmania – an area that is climatically similar to the primary olive growing areas in Spain, Italy and other Mediterranean countries.’

Joining us for conversations is Alana Mann

Alana moved to Tasmania with her partner Dave in 2022. She is the author of three books on food politics, and in 2023 was featured in the Powerhouse Museum’s 100 Climate Conversations for her research on food in a changing climate. She is Professor and Head of Discipline, Media, at University of Tasmania and co-director of FoodLab Sydney.

The theme of this year’s World Food Day is Right to foods for a better life and a better future. How is this worthy aim reflected in the policies and practices promoting community well-being in Tasmania? This talk will focus on how we work together, and the support we need, to develop and maintain resilient, sustainable, and equitable local food systems.

Youth Engagement at Watershed: Central to our mission is engaging young people in these conversations. Through workshops in hospitality, menu design, front-of-house operations, and conversational skills, led by BighART and Isabel, youth gain valuable experience and real-life skills to cultivate a passion for community involvement.

See you at the table!
