Conversation Series: In conversation with: Brendan Murray

In this inspirational yarn, pakana man Brendan Murray reflects on his journey from illiterate adult to tertiary student, studying a bachelor degree a the University of Tasmania, and considers the importance of education, culture and resilience in the context of living in contemporary Tasmania.

Brendan Murray is a student engagement officer at riawunna. The University of Tasmania’s riawunna team is focused on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student success, providing a culturally welcoming space for Aboriginal students to study, access academic and cultural support and be part of a dynamic community of learners.

“I’m sharing my life story to help Aboriginal children get the best education outcomes out of life and bring about positive change on the North-West Coast,’’ said Brendan.

This conversation will be MC’d by Dr Jen Evans, and is hosted in partnership with the University of Tasmania.
