Join us at the Watershed to celebrate local music with an evening featuring Abby Otten supported by Your Local Blue Smith.
Abby Otten
Emerging singer-songwriter Abby Otten is, first and foremost, a storyteller. With a gift for lyricism and a fondness for a subtle hook, Abby offers listeners a shimmering, visceral exploration of what it is to be human. After many years away from music-making, she has spent the past year living, mothering and writing (feverishly) on palawa land in nipaluna/Hobart. The coming months promise a vibrant creative expansion for Abby, as she prepares to release her debut single in early 2025.

Sometimes playing in 5m swells, the music often is reflective of a life at sea The compositions are grounded in exquisite guitar playing . Frequently taking sonic detours in a way that is seamlessly genre fluid. The latest release ‘Nipussi’ is a collaboration with mainland electronic producer TimSun (Sam Litche). It is a dedication to the Mentawai surf camp Beng Beng’s and all there beautiful kindness.
